Ireland leading the way in bleeding disorders research
Working out of the Royal College of Surgeon’s Dublin, we’re proud to support Dr Michelle Lavin’s research that aims to reduce maternal mortality rates worldwide by preventing post-partum haemorrhage.
A staggering 14 million mothers suffer from post-partum haemorrhage (PPH) each year, resulting in 100,000 deaths. Dr Lavin’s research aims to show that a simple screening tool can help diagnose undetected bleeding disorders that lead to PPH during childbirth.
If successful, Lavin’s ground-breaking research could save hundreds of thousands of lives every year.
